The two day event drew over 1000 visitors from all around. 08-28-05

There is a special event that occurs twice a year in the Whitesville area, free and open to one and all. It makes a small child stand in awe and wonder and an adult stand in memories of youth and amazement in detail and beauty.

Just off I 185 Exit 30, north of the Pine Mountain ridge on Hopewell Church Road, the beautiful subdivision of Piedmont Lake is located. A private gated neighborhood on a 200+ acre lake with about 200 homes.

In the spring (May) and in the fall (October), Norm Marwitz and friends present a large display in the gardens of Norm and Jan's home on Lake Piedmont. The display is of model Trains with large fully detailed towns and country laid out in the beauty of 3+ acre of gardens on lake front lots of Piedmont Lake. The gardens were in bloom as the many trains rode trough the raised beds and around the lush walkways. Volunteers from Piedmont were there to serve you, free of charge, hot dogs and the fixings. Also, to guide you trough the walk paths of trains, and to point out the way to the dock where the Volunteer Fire Dept. loaded, all who wanted a free tour, rides on the 6 neighborhood pontoon boats to take you around the shore line to view the houses on Lake Piedmount. (Donations for the Fire Department were accepted if you wished.) The two day event drew over 1000 visitors from all around. A lot of new friends were made watching the trains, eating hotdogs, and going for a long boat ride on a wonderful spring day.

Sandra Doolittle and myself plan on going back next time. Put this on your calendar! The Fall date for this event will occur again on October 15 & 16 2005 At Lake Piedmont. The gates will be open, drive till you see the antique cars and fire truck; a shuttle will get you to and from if you can't park close.

Norman and friends put on quite an event (for free) just look for the crowd. A wonderful Day!
