Salem, Al. – Wanna fish until you drop? CreekStand Catfish Farm in nearby Salem, Al. is the place to go.
A co-worker of our told my son Tyler about a great place to fish and the police wouldn’t bother us because we wouldn’t be trespassing. Yea, Tyler loves to fish and wanted to take me cat fishing. We love catfish! After a one hour search on the Internet Tyler located the place. It was called CreekStand Catfish Farm and it was located in Salem, Al. at 784 Lee Road 124. Just put it in your GPS and you’ll find it, no trouble.
Tyler and I arrived about 5 P.M. CST, and fished until a little after seven P.M. We caught 10 fish and they weighed 11.5 pounds, We had enough for a Dukes family fish fry and although we got home too late to cook we’re back Sunday around the pool in the drizzling sunshine, ha. Kinda cloudy but we’re ready for that catfish tonight.
Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday year round. Gate opens seasonal usually 1 hour after sun up and close 1 hour before sundown.
Fishing fee $2.00 per person (7 and under, 70 and older free)
Catfish, carp, bass, and brim, bring them to the main building and have them cleaned and fileted.
I’d like to strongly recommend the CreekStand Catfish Farm to all of you who love to fish and don’t have a good place to do it. You can bring your cooler with beer or soda and a chair and your fishing gear. Everyone we met was really nice and helpful.
